A district-wide ad hoc committee has formed to investigate the subject of adolescent sleep needs and the pros and cons of a possible switch of school start times between the earlier secondary start time of
7:30 a.m. and the later elementary start time of 8:30 a.m.

Recognizing the implications such a change would have on all students, teachers, parents and administrators in the Silver Lake District, we are committed to investigating all aspects of such a switch before giving a recommendation.

Public hearings, discussions, expert testimony, and surveys of all potential stake-holders will be part of this exploration. Watch this site and the local newspapers and school bulletins for further activity.

Those interested in participating in the work of the ad hoc committee should contact the office of superintendent at 781-585-4313 and submit your name, phone number and email address.
