Art Club meets Tuesdays from 2 - 3 pm in Mrs. Close's room, 1742. New members are always welcome to join at anytime.
Spring of 2016 the Art Club has participated in the Memory Project. "The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty." 18 Art Club students from Silver Lake in grades 9-12 choose to participate creating portraits of children from Romania. Those portraits will be hand delivered to the children.
Last year Art Club members also participated in the Peabody Essex Museum field trip to see Theo Jensen's Strandbeests, and the New York City field trip to the Whitney Museum and New Museum. This year we are excited to see Nick Cave's massive installation Until at MASS MoCA!
