Art Club meets Tuesdays from 2 - 3 pm in Mrs. Close's room, 1742. New members are always welcome to join at anytime.
The Art Club has been proud to support the Memory Project in recent years. "The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization that invites art teachers and their students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and extreme poverty." Those portraits will be hand delivered to the children.
Art Club member have also participated in the Peabody Essex Museum field trip to see Theo Jensen's Strandbeests andXYZT exhibit, and the New York City field trip to the Whitney Museum and New Museum. We also too a trip to MASS MoCA to see Nick Cave's massive installation Until! And this spring we will travel to the Portland Museum of Art to see their Biennial Show.
2018 Guest Artist: Gigi Horr Liverant

Gigi Horr Liverant gave a 2 day workshop and demonstation to Art I, II, Portfolio Prep and Art Major classes. Ms. Liverant, is a professional working artists whose is well known for her work in pastels. She has won regional and national awards and her work has been sold in local and national galleries for over 35 years. In addition she is a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist, and an International Association of Pastel Society IX Member, in addition to being an active member of many regional art associations.
Financial support for this program is provided by the Kingston, Plympton and Halifax Cultural Council's. This is our 3rd year bringing in a guest artist in conjunction with Youth Art Month and National Arts Advocay Day.

2017 Guest Artist: Bob Collins

Guest artist Bob Collins gave a presentation of his work, demonstration and workshop to students in grades 9-12 Art I, II, Portfolio Prep and Art Major classes. Collins was inducted into the "Who's Who in America" for contributions in the areas of Painting and Industrial Design, is a professor at Monserrat College has taught at the Danforth Art Museum among other colleges and art institutions. He is also well known for his work as a designer of the original My Little Pony and Jem and the Rockers toy lines!

2016 Guest Artist: Susan Swinand

Guest artist Susan Swinand gave a presentation of her work, demonstration and workshop to students in grades 9-12 Art I, II, Portfolio Prep and Art Major classes. Swinand is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, has taught at the Worcester Art Museum among others and continues to teach at Wellesley College.
Many thanks to the Halifax and Kingston Cultural Councils as well as the Silver Lake PTO for supporting this year's guest artist program. This program was run in conjunction with Youth Art Month and National Arts Advocacy Day.
